MILWAUKEE – Marian University softball (21-15, 9-7 NACC) punched their ticket to the NACC Tournament defeating Alverno 24-1 in five innings and 12-1 in six innings.
Marian hit six home runs in the opening game of the doubleheader scoring 10 runs in the third and another 11 in the fourth to cruise to a game one win. Six different Sabres had multi-hit games in the victory with senior Peyton Loesch leading the way going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Freshman Hailey Tice, senior Alexa Rodriguez, and sophomore Andrea Miller, each drove in four runs.
Senior Paige Rauhut (9-9) went 4.0 innings allowing just two hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts to earn the win.
The offense continued to roll in game two as the Sabres scored four runs in the third, and six more runs in the sixth to secure the sweep. Freshman Katelyn Matenaer was one of three Sabres with multi-hit games going 3-for-4 with a run scored and one run driven in.
Sophomore Emalee Depa (11-3) tossed a complete game to earn the win in the circle allowing just four hits with six punch outs.
Marian takes on MSOE in their final home twin bill of the regular season Friday, April 30 for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
