For a second consecutive year, Marian finished fourth in the conference with Dominican earning the traveling trophy after reaching 8,894 items. Festival Foods once again partnered with the Sabres and provided a matching donation. All non-perishable items were donated to the Fond du Lac Food Pantry at St. Paul’s Cathedral, which serves over 1,000 people each week.
Since the conference’s inception in 2006, the members of the NACC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has organized “Cans Across the Conference”, doing something together as a conference that helps in each institution’s respective community.
SAAC annually organizes the canned food drive as a community service competition amongst the 13 institutions in the conference. Each campus SAAC collects cans and other non-perishable items at their school during October and November to benefit a local charity.
In addition to food items, one dollar donated equals two cans, and toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) are also counted.
