Marian Names Christine Erickson Professor Emeritus

April 10, 2012FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Marian University has named recently retired associate professor Christine Erickson of the School of Education as its latest professor emeritus.Erickson, who retired in December 2011, taught at Marian since 1991 and in that time served as the Director of the Early Childhood Center and as the Chair of the Department of Teacher Education. Her research interests varied from standard-based assessments in Teacher Education, Teacher Work Samples for pre-service teachers and developmentally appropriate practices and assessment for Early Childhood programs with an emphasis on four-year-old kindergarten.”Professor Erickson was vital to our School of Education as a faculty member, Department Chair and Early Childhood Center Administrator,” says Dr. Sue Stoddart, Dean of the School of Education. “She has always been dedicated to creating a wonderful and enjoyable learning environment for preschool children here at Marian and encouraged her Early Childhood Education majors to bring that same love and passion to their classrooms. I am very excited that Chris has been given professor emeritus status as she has not only been an exceptional faculty member but an outstanding colleague, mentor and friend throughout her years of service here at Marian.”The former kindergarten, preschool and Early Childhood Exceptional Educational Needs (ECEEN) teacher earned her Master’s in Education at Marian and her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
