Marian men’s volleyball bounces back with sweep of IIT

The Marian University men’s volleyball (7-9, 5-3 NACC) offense only got stronger as the match went along sweeping IIT with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-16.

The Sabres finished the match hitting .379 for the match with only 10 errors hitting .341 in the second set and .583 in the final set recording 18 kills in the process.  Marian finished with 46 kills in the victory, their highest amount of kills for a three-set match this season.

The first pair of sets saw the Sabres pull away late with a 7-3 run to close out the first set and an 8-3 streak to finish the second set.  Marian took a 10-9 lead to open the third set and then went on a 14-4 run to take a 24-13 lead to cruise to the sweep.

Senior Jon Smallpage and freshman Jacob Jurney each had a match-high 15 kills, which is a career-high for Jurney who also hit .560 for the match.  Senior Cullen Liberski led the defense with a match-high 14 digs, while junior Jacob DeGroot had four total blocks.
