MILWAUKEE – Marian University men’s tennis received 43 points for a sixth-place finish in the NACC preseason poll, as voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors of the league.

Defending champion Illinois Tech (18-10, 9-0 NACC last season) was the unanimous choice to capture a second-straight title topping the preseason poll with 128 points and all 16 first-place votes. Concordia University Wisconsin (16-8, 8-1 NACC) found itself named second on each of the 16 ballots and lands in the No. 2 spot in the poll with 116 points.

Milwaukee School of Engineering is third with 92 points, just ahead of Edgewood College with 82 points. Dominican University (60), Marian University (43), Wisconsin Lutheran College (32) and Lakeland University (27) round out the poll.

The top six teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the NACC Men’s Tennis Tournament, which opens with a pair of first-round games on Tuesday, April 28. Semifinals and finals are slated for Sunday, May 3 at Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The NACC Tournament champion will receive the league’s automatic berth in the 2020 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship.

Marian opens the season Tuesday, March 10 at 8 p.m. traveling to St. Norbert.
