EVANSTON, Ill. – Marian University men’s soccer (5-11-1, 2-8-0 NACC) has added a game against NCAA Division I Northwestern to close out the 2019 season.
The additional non-conference game is slated for Friday, Nov. 1 with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. This will be the second time in four seasons the Sabres travel to Northwestern to close out the season after doing the same to close out the 2016 season. The Wildcats would score a 35th-minute goal to defeat the Sabres 1-0 in that game. Ian Chacon made eight saves in goal for the Sabres in the losing effort.
The non-conference game will also serve as the final regular-season game of the year for the Wildcats as Northwestern closes out Big Ten play against Wisconsin tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 30. Northwestern is currently tied for fourth in the Big Ten at 7-7-1 with a 3-3-1 conference ledger. Northwestern is led by their defense that has posted five shutouts on the season, third-highest shutout percentage in the Big Ten, and is only allowing 1.36 goals per game.
Northwestern soccer plays all of their home matches on the turf field of Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium. The facility opened in March of 2016 and is located right on the shores of Lake Michigan. The exact address for Martin Stadium is provided below.
Admission for the event will be free as part of Senior Day celebrations for Northwestern. Live stats will also be available for the game at https://nusports.com/sidearmstats/msoc/summary.
