Marian University men’s lacrosse (5-4, 2-2 NACC) earned a convincing win over Edgewood by a 20-5 final to open the final homestand of the season.
The Sabres jumped all over the Eagles to open the game scoring eight goals in the opening stanza and holding the Eagles scoreless. Edgewood broke the shutout to open the second quarter before six unanswered Marian goals led the Sabres to a 15-2 lead at the half. The second half saw fewer goals, but Marian was still able to outscore Edgewood 5-3 in the final 30 minutes to put the final at 20-5.
Juniors Erik Horman and Colt Robertson each had four goals and an assist to lead the offense. Senior Tommy Gerlach had another strong performance recording a game-high 11 ground balls, while fellow senior Marcus Fosdick and freshman Sean Gordon each caused four turnovers.
Sophomore Richard Summers III had a strong performance in goal for the Sabres stopping seven of the 12 shots he saw.
Marian plays their final home game of the season Friday, April 16 when the Sabres host Aurora for a 7 p.m. start.
