GALENA, Ill. – Marian University men’s golf sits in a tie for 14th after shooting a 322 at the opening round of the Midwest Region Classic.
Carthage College leads the invitational after a first round score of 305. Three different student-athletes shot an even-par 72 and sit atop the individual leaderboard.
Freshman Christian Taylor leads the way for MU after shooting a four-over 76, good for a tie for 12th place. The final three scorers for the Sabres sit four shots apart led by Maxwell Dye who shot an 80. Shooting an 82 was freshman Jake Sherwood and AJ Rambaud was the final Marian scorer with an 84. Sophomore Aaron Rick rounds out the Sabre lineup after shooting a first round 88.
Marian closes out the second round of the Midwest Region Classic tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 16, from Eagle Ridge South Golf Course.
