Marian men’s golf off to good start at Hopkins Collegiate Classic

DECATUR, Ill. – Marian University men’s golf shot a 308 in the opening round of the Hopkins Collegiate Classic and sit in a tie for eighth place.

Illinois Wesleyan is atop the leaderboard after a 294, while Josh Gibson of Hope College shot a 68 to take the individual lead after the first round.

Freshman Christian Taylor continued his hot play of late and is in a tie for second after shooting a 71.  Fellow freshman Jake Sherwood is not far behind sitting in a tie for 12th after a 74.  Freshman AJ Rambaud and Maxwell Dye finished the Marian scoring after a 79 and 84, respectively.  Sophomore Aaron Rick rounded out the MU lineup shooting an 89.

Marian concludes the Hopkins Collegiate Classic tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 30, from the Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, Ill.
