September 25, 2017

MEQUON, Wis. – Marian University women’s soccer (3-4-0, 0-1-0 NACC) dropped their NACC opener at Concordia Wisconsin by a 3-2 final.

Junior Reilly Louko added to her team lead in goals when she took a crossing pass from junior Karissa Preston and headed it in to put the Sabres ahead 1-0 in the 28th minute.  The Falcons needed much time as a little over a minute later CUW knotted the game at 1-1.

The Falcons controlled the pace for most of the first half outshooting the Sabres 8-1.  CUW then took their first lead of the game just 31-seconds into the second half.  Marian had an answer as freshman Shannon Coughlin netted her fourth goal of the year as the Falcon goalie was out of position.  The goal came in the 61st minute but the Falcons answered and retook the lead in the 79th minute as Kayla Schlosser completed a hat trick.

Coughlin and Louko each had a pair of shots in the loss, while junior Alyssa Jones (0-2-0) took the loss making seven saves.

Marian returns to Smith Field for homecoming when they host Dominican Saturday, Sept. 23 at approximately 3 p.m.
