Manhardt (West Bend, Wis.) led the Sabres and nearly averaged a double-double for the month with 12.4 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game. The lone Sabre senior also totaled 11 blocks and 11 steals while shooting 48-83 (.578) from the field as the Sabres went 5-4 for the month. Manhardt also earned his 500th career rebound during the month on Jan. 20 when Marian hosted Rockford and needs only 39 points to become the eighth Sabre in men’s basketball history to reach 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. He had four double-doubles during the month and currently leads the NACC with eight double-doubles on the year.
Serchen (Richfield, Wis.) had a big month for Marian leading the Sabres in scoring with 13.3 points per game to go with a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game. Serchen closed out the month scoring double-digit points in five of the last six games including 18 points in a road loss to MSOE. The Sabre forward also shot 42-103 (.408) from the field and was the best free throw shooter for Marian going 33-43 (.767) from the charity stripe. Serchen also ranked second on the team for the month with 17 assists and 13 steals.
Marian basketball travels to Dominican Saturday, Feb. 3 for a NACC doubleheader with the men tipping off at 2 p.m. and the women at 4:15 p.m.
