Marian athletics suspends in-person attendance indefinitely

January 14, 2021

As uncertainty continues to surround the COVID-19 pandemic, Marian University athletics has announced the indefinite suspension of in-person attendance for all home games.

Sabre athletics has made this decision to protect the safety and well-being of not only the Marian University community but visiting teams as well.  Marian will continue to closely monitor and adjust to all developments surrounding the pandemic.  This decision will be monitored moving forward and when deemed safe, Sabre athletics will return to allowing fans to attend home games.

“We have spent a considerable amount of time on the matter and have made the unfortunate decision to not allow fans for the time being,” commented director of athletics Jason Bartelt.  “The safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and support staff has been and will continue to be a focal point during this unprecedented time.  We urge fans to do their part in containing COVID-19 by wearing masks and practice social distancing to ensure the safety of themselves and the safety of those around them.  We look forward to the return of Sabre fans when we are able to do so in a safe manner.”

While fans will not be able to watch Marian games in person, Sabre athletics will continue to provide a free online feed of games at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/marianwi/.
