Marian University athletics has announced the cancellation of the annual Korbie Classic golf outing.
The Korbie Classic traditionally has served as the opening event for homecoming weekend. With health and safety as the main priority, Marian University athletics has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual golf outing. The 2020 version of the Korbie Classic was scheduled to be the ninth installment of the golf outing.
“Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to officially suspend the Korbie Classic,” commented director of athletics Jason Bartelt. “Out of the overall safety of our student-athletes and the entire Marian community we felt it was best to cancel the event this year. We will get the date out for the 2021 Korbie Classic, as well as the induction of the next Hall of Fame class as soon as it becomes available.”
Marian University athletics has also made the decision to postpone the annual coupon card sale that is traditionally done in the fall. A decision as to whether the coupon card sale will be conducted in the spring or return in the fall of 2021 will be announced at a later date.
Marian University has announced four wine and cheese gatherings hosted by acting president Dr. Michelle Majewski on the patio of Stayer Center over the next two weeks in lieu of previously scheduled homecoming events being cancelled. In the event of inclement weather, gatherings will be moved to A109 of the administration building.
The available dates are Tuesday, Sept. 22, Wednesday, Sept. 23, Monday, Sept. 28, and Wednesday, Sept. 30, with all gatherings running from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Registration can be done by emailing Carey Gardin (email@example.com) with your preferred date of attendance, with additional dates should your original date be filled.
