Marcin selected as Marian’s Veteran of the Month

 – John Marcin was selected as Marian University’s Veteran of the Month.

Marcin served in the air force for three years in Puerto Rico, where he served as a cook.

“It means a lot to receive this award,” said Marcin. “I enjoyed every minute of my time in the service. I joined the military as a way to learn and advance my career, and it really taught me a lot.”

Marcin is now retired and enjoys taking classes, working on his writing and spending time with his family.

The Veteran of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and Sunny 97.7/96.1 WTCX, highlights one area veteran each month. Each veteran chosen receives a plaque, an appreciation package from Marian University and Sunny 97.7’s sponsors, including a 3 credit undergraduate class which can be redeemed in the traditional undergraduate program or any of adult undergraduate sessions. In addition, recipients are honored with a monthly ceremony at Marian University, and have the opportunity to share their story on the radio.

Deserving veterans may be nominated by visiting Marian University will select one veteran at the end of each month.
