MILWAUKEE – After posting a perfect weekend, junior Lawson MacDonald of Marian University men’s tennis has been named the NACC men’s tennis player of the week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
MacDonald (St. Andrews, Ont.) went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles as Marian fell to Dominican before defeating Concordia Chicago for their first victory of the season. Against Dominican, he teamed up with Danny Roe to earn an 8-4 victory in doubles action before winning his singles match 6-2, 6-3. He then teamed up with Roe against CUC to earn a tight 8-6 win at the top doubles flight and went on to win his singles match in a tiebreak with scores of 6-4, 4-6, 11-9. MacDonald is now 2-2 on the season at the No. 2 singles flight and also 2-2 at the top doubles flight when he is paired with Roe.

Marian remains at home to take on Lakeland in NACC action before an exhibition match with Prairie State Saturday, April 13 and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
