Lewandowski and Meyers earn All-NACC honors

MILWAUKEE – Junior Emma Lewandowski and senior Mackenzie Meyers were each named all-conference for singles and doubles announced the league office Monday afternoon.

The duo teamed up at the top flight for doubles action all season for the Sabres going 5-7 overall with a 5-4 mark in conference action.  In all five victories, Lewandowski and Meyers held their opponent to four or fewer games won including an 8-0 sweep against Dominican.  The All-NACC doubles honor is the first for Lewandowski and second for Meyers after she earned the award as a sophomore.

Lewandowski (Wauconda, Ill.) earns her second-straight All-NACC singles selection after her first full season at the top flight.  She would go on to hold a 5-7 record during the fall season with a 4-5 mark coming in NACC matches.  Lewandowski opened the season with four consecutive victories in singles action including a three-set tiebreak win against Lawrence.  Her most impressive victory came against Wisconsin Lutheran where she earned a 6-1, 6-1 win.  Lewandowski was also able to earn her first NACC player of the week selection after posting a perfect 4-0 weekend against Dominican and Concordia Chicago.

Meyers (South Milwaukee, Wis.) earns her first All-NACC singles honor after playing at the No. 2 flight for the Sabres all season long.  Meyers went on to post a 7-5 mark on the year with a 6-3 record in NACC action from the No. 2 spot.  She was able to open the season with victories in seven of her first eight matches with a three-set victory coming against MSOE to cap off a five-match win streak.  In four of her victories, she held her opponent to less than two games won including a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory against Alverno.

Marian qualified for the NACC Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and will play on the road at MSOE Monday, April 27.  The full spring season for the Sabre women’s tennis program will be announced at a later date.
