Lemke selected as Marian’s Veteran of the Month

March 20, 2017

Robin Lemke was selected as Marian University’s Veteran of the Month for March.

Lemke served for four years in the Marines, and met her husband, John, while serving.

“Both my husband and I were serving. We were both deployed to Desert Storm – and only 26 days after we were married,” said Lemke. “Being in the military is hard, especially to be away from family and loved ones. But I believe everyone should do some type of service.”

During her service, Lemke was part of the S3 airwing operations, where she tracked flight hours, training, and flight destinations. Lemke and her husband have four children, and reside in the Plymouth area.

The Veteran of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and Sunny 97.7/96.1 WTCX, highlights one area veteran each month. Each veteran chosen receives a plaque, an appreciation package from Marian University and Sunny 97.7’s sponsors, including a 3 credit undergraduate class which can be redeemed in the traditional undergraduate program or any of adult undergraduate sessions. In addition, recipients are honored with a ceremony at Marian University, and have the opportunity to share their story on the radio.

Deserving veterans may be nominated by visiting www.sunny977.com. Marian University will select one veteran at the end of each month.

Marian University was founded in 1936 by the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, Wis. The institution has one of the lowest student-faculty ratios in the state, and strives to live its core values as a community committed to learning, dedicated to service and social justice and joined together by spiritual traditions. Marian offers undergraduate, adult, master’s and doctoral degree programs at its main campus and in facilities throughout Wisconsin.
