FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Outstanding Book Award for 2016 from the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport was awarded to the book, Is There Life After Football? Surviving the NFL, co-authored by Marian University’s George Koonce and Marquette University professors James Holstein and Richard Jones.
North American Society for the Sociology of Sport promotes the sociological study of play, games, sport and contemporary physical culture. The book was published in 2015 by New York University Press.
Koonce currently serves as the Senior Vice President for University Relations at Marian University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from New York University at Regents in Albany, New York, a master’s from East Carolina University and his doctoral degree from Marquette University.
