Holdiman (Sheridan, Ill.) continues to have an impact in her first season as a Sabre on both ends of the court. Holdiman scored a team-best 49 points for the month for a 12.3 points per game and average and also grabbed a team-high 25 rebounds for a 6.3 rebounds per game. She also led the squad with 14 assists in December and was second on the team with five steals. She went on to shoot 16-35 (.457) for the month including 10-26 (.385) from beyond the arc over the four-game span. Holdiman had three double-digit performances including a career-high 22 points coming in a 77-65 win over Rockford. She also had seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals in the win over the Regents.
Wilson (Plainfield, Ill.) had a strong month of December as he continues to be a key player for the Sabre men’s basketball program. Wilson led the team with 15.8 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game during the month. He also went on to dish out nine assists to go with a block and steal on the defensive end. Wilson had three double-digit performances including a career-high 23-point performance against Lakeland at home. He also went on to record 10 rebounds against the Muskies for his first career double-double. On the season, Wilson averages 13.3 points per game, second on the team, and has a team-best 5.3 rebounds per game.
Marian men’s and women’s basketball returns to action at Benedictine Saturday, Jan. 4 with the men’s game tipping off at 2 p.m. and the women’s to follow at approximately 4:15 p.m.
