Sophomore Olivia Hartley of Marian softball and freshman Zachariah Sandoval of Marian baseball have been named the Sabres of the Month for the month of March.
Hartley (Waterford, Wis.) hit 15-35 (.429) for the month of March and had five doubles with a home run for a slugging percentage of .657. Hartley had six multi-games for the month including a pair of three-hit games. The sophomore scored 12 times and also drove in another 15 runs to lead the Marian offense. Defensively, Hartley had a .975 fielding percentage with 74 putouts and three assists. Her biggest game came against North Central (Ill.) where she went 2-4 with two runs scored and five runs batted in.
Sandoval (Santee, Calif.) dominated on the bump for Marian boasting a 1.29 earned run average over 21.0 innings pitched for the month of March. Sandoval made three starts for the month only allowing three earned runs and striking out 12 batters. The freshman right-hander earned his first career victory in the season opener against Simpson where he threw a complete game only allowing four hits and striking out five Simpson hitters. Sandoval also held opponents to a .176 batting average for the month.
