MILWAUKEE – Senior Tommy Gerlach of Marian University men’s lacrosse has been named the NACC defensive player of the week, as voted on by the sports information directors of the league.
Gerlach (Verona, Wis.) had a dominating performance as Marian defeated Illinois Tech, 19-7, on April 10. He finished with a career-best 15 ground balls while also causing four turnovers to pace the Sabre defense. It was just the second time in his career that he has recorded double-digit ground balls in a single game.
Following the win over Edgewood last night, Gerlach now ranks third in the NACC with 75 ground balls and is sixth in the NACC with 15 caused turnovers.
