FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Richard Evans was selected as Marian University’s December Veteran of the Month.
Evans served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for 20 years, and was called up to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom during his 20th year of service. He served as a Chief of Security for Camp 92, a base camp stationed in Kuwait that housed as many as 1,200 soldiers, and for many convoys that traveled into the heart of Baghdad. Following his return to Wisconsin, Evans received several medals for his service, one of which was the U.S. Navy Achievement medal.
The Veteran of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and Sunny 97.7/96.1 WTCX, highlights one area veteran each month. Each veteran chosen will receive a plaque, an appreciation package from Marian University and Sunny 97.7’s sponsors, including a 3 credit undergraduate class which can be redeemed in winterim or summer session 2015, or in any of the adult undergraduate sessions. In addition, recipients will be honored with a monthly ceremony at Marian University, and have the opportunity to share their story on the radio.
