Marian University women’s tennis (7-4, 5-2 NACC) suffered their first defeat at home falling to Edgewood 7-2.
The Sabres would drop all three doubles matches but managed to avoid being shutout by taking the No. 1 and No. 6 singles flights. Senior Meg Hartzell bounced back after dropping the opening set in a 7-2 tiebreaker to take the second set 6-1. She then completed her comeback with a 10-8 victory in the third set.
A fellow senior at No. 6 earned a two-set sweep in Kristin Houle who won a 7-5 tiebreak in the first set before taking the second set 6-4.
Marian hits the road playing at Carroll tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 3, for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
