MILWAUKEE – Senior Jacob DeGroot and sophomore Liam Skinner have each been recognized as All-NACC honorable mention selections announced the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

DeGroot (Kaukauna, Wis.) led the Sabre offense during the shortened 2020 season recording 143 kills with a 2.42 kills per set average to earn his first all-conference honor.  He also had a team-high 17 service aces and ranked second on the squad with 35 total blocks.  DeGroot had eight matches where he recorded double-digit kills, six coming in the final eight matches of the season, with a pair of 14-kill performances against Adrian and Wittenberg in non-conference play.  He also had five total blocks in each of those matches as part of five matches where he had at least four total blocks.  DeGroot sits sixth on the Marian all-time list for kills with 525, third for service aces with 70, second for total blocks with 234, and set a program record .265 hitting percentage over his four years as a Sabre.

Skinner (Des Plaines, Ill.) had another dominant season in the middle for the Sabres to earn his first recognition as an all-conference member.  He ranked second in the conference on the season with 54 total blocks, leading the NACC with 15 solo blocks, to go with 131 kills and a team-best .297 hitting percentage.  Skinner had five matches with double-digit kills including a 25-kill performance against Maranatha Baptist where he also hit .476.  He also had one double-double on the season when he recorded 11 kills to go with 10 blocks, three of which were solo, in a five-set victory against Wittenberg.  Skinner had five matches where he posted at least five total blocks.  In just two seasons as a Sabre, he has now amassed 145 total blocks, fourth all-time, and 23 total blocks, third all-time.
