Evan Drauschak has been named the second head coach of the Marian University field hockey program, as announced by Director of Athletics Tony Draves.

“We’re very excited to have Evan join our staff and continue the momentum created in our first season of field hockey,” said Draves. “Evan has shown a great ability to recruit and coach at the collegiate level. He’s going to do a great job and help bring the Sabre field hockey program to the next level.”

Drauschak brings with him a wide variety of experience coaching and recruiting across several different levels ranging from youth to collegiate field hockey. His spent this past season at Frostburg State University, an NCAA Division II program out of Frostburg, Md. While with the Bobcats, he focused on coaching goalkeepers and played a major role in recruiting along with academic success. The Bobcats earned eight victories this past season, the most since the 2015 campaign, and had nine student-athletes named to the NFHCA National Academic Team.

He also recently spent time at Ursinus and DePauw, both NCAA Division III institutions. At both stops he served a primary role in coaching goalkeepers and recruiting. His collegiate coaching career began at Immaculata where he served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III member Immaculata.

“I am filled with excitement and energy as I start my journey at Marian as the new head field hockey coach,” said Drauschak. “Marian is a wonderful community where I am looking to grow and help this field hockey program develop. I’m thankful to th athletic administration for giving me this opportunity to become the second head coach in Marian history. I take that as a huge honor.”

Outside of the collegiate world, Drauschak has been a part of the USA Futures program as a field hockey coach since 2014. His coaching career began with the Vipers Field Hockey Club, out of Royersford, Pa. With VFHC, he coached a wide variety of players ranging from U10 to U19 from 2014-2021. He also had a stop at Owen J. Roberts High School as an assistant coach where he also served as the head coach for the freshmen team. With his assistance, the Wildcats won three straight PAC 10 Championships and qualified for the state playoffs in three of five seasons.

A highly decorated playing career for Drauschak is highlighted by a USA Men’s Field Hockey Junior National Championship in 2008. He also earned a Scottish Cup Championship with Fettes College where he was a goalkeeper and served as a co-captain. Following the Scottish Cup Championship, Drauschak was a co-captain and goalkeeper for the USA Field Hockey development team from 2009-2011.

“The future is bright for the Sabres and with some hard work, we are poised to do great things this fall,” said Drauschak. “It is the beginning of a new journey and I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead.”

Drauschak earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from University of Maryland Global Campus in 2020.
