DULUTH, Minn. – Senior Maggie Cusey of Marian University women’s hockey has been named the NCHA defensive player of the week announced the league office Tuesday.
Cusey (Mankato, Minn.) made her final appearance in goal a memorable one leading the Sabres to a 1-1 tie against St. Scholastica. She would make 45 saves in the tie with 25 of her stops coming in the final period. Cusey stopped all six shots she faced in overtime to put her save percentage at .978 for the tie. On the season, Cusey made the ninth-most saves in program history for a single season with 473 and finished with the second-highest save percentage for a single season at .929.
