Hockey player CrossDULUTH, Minn. – Sophomore Clay Cross of No. 14/15 Marian University men’s hockey has been named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Sabres to a sweep of Lawrence.

Cross led the Sabre offense with a four-point weekend as Marian was able to clinch a spot in the upcoming NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs.  The Glendale, Ariz. native assisted a pair of goals in each game in the series against the Vikings including the game-winner in the finale of the series.  The pair of wins helped the Sabres push their winning streak to five games and also put the Sabres in the national rankings for the first time this season.  In only 18 games this season, Cross has scored five goals to go with eight assists for a total of 13 points.  He is the third Sabre so far this season to earn the offensive weekly award.
