DULUTH, Minn. – Sophomore Yuri Chernichko of Marian University men’s hockey has been named the NCHA offensive player of the week, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Chernichko (Calgary, Alta.) recorded multiple goals lead Marian past UW-Stout 5-4 in their season opener. Chernichko scored the third Sabre goal as part of a four-goal first period to open his night. He then lit the lamp in the second period for what proved to be the game-winner. The multi-goal game was the second of his career and gives him nine goals for his career. This is just the second time since 2014 a Sabre has recorded a multi-goal game in the season opener.
