MILWAUKEE – After posting a pair of shutouts over the weekend, senior Ian Chacon of Marian University men’s soccer has been named the NACC defensive player of the week announced the league office Tuesday.
Chacon (Cicero, Ill.) led Marian to a 1-0 defeat of MacMurray to open the week and came up big in the second half of a 2-0 shutout against Northland. The LumberJacks sent four shots on goal in the second half of the non-conference game at Smith Field but Chacon was up to the task stopping all of them. The pair of shutouts were his second and third of the season along with his 10th and 11th of his career.
In three games this season, Chacon has logged 278:09 of time in goal and has only allowed one goal. His 0.32 goals against average and .923 save percentage are both good for tops in the NACC so far this season.
