Senior goalie Mike Baldwin (Waukesha, Wis.) of the men’s ice hockey team and senior guard Nicole Paulus (Belgium, Wis.) of the women’s basketball team have been named the December Sabres of the Month.
Paulus has been a scoring machine all season long for the Sabres and currently ranks fourth in the NACC averaging 17.8 points per game. For the month of December, the senior guard led the Sabres averaging 20.0 points per game and six steals. Paulus shot 28-64 (.438) from the field during the month and pulled down 15 rebounds.
Baldwin was in top form between the pipes for Marian as he led the Sabres to a sweep of St. Scholastica. Baldwin posted a .917 save percentage to go with a 2.50 goals against average for the weekend. The senior netminder totalled 55 saves on the weekend and held the Saints a combined 0-8 on the power play in the two wins. Baldwin improved to 4-0-1 in his last five games with the pair of decisions and was named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week.
