The Value of Stories
2019 Academic Symposium
Sadoff Auditorium, Stayer Center
For millennia, critics have dismissed stories as distracting, irrelevant, and deceptive. Despite these accusations, narratives have remained a fundamental part of human experience central to cultures and communities across the world. This presentation will explore why stories are valuable and why some keep insisting they aren’t. After considering how engaging with narratives can make us smarter, kinder, and more ethical, this project will consider how we might engage with stories in ways that can help us become better people.
