Students Daniel Payne and Forest FahlerE-Sports co-presidents

Daniel Payne is majoring graphic arts, minoring in studio art. From Portland Oregon, living in Oshkosh now, commuting. Enjoys soccer and tennis.

Forest Fahler is an information technology major, minoring history. From Germantown. Played hockey in high school….played with ACH team at Marian (plays left wing). In the Army Reserve.

“(Forest) I came for the IT program. Always wanted to be an architect, but I also always had an interest in computers and I really likes programming. I’m a senior and I’m looking forward to finishing. The quality of the IT program is what kept me here. I can always talk to my instructors. I also eventually figured out what liberal arts are and how they help me. I feel prepared for the future. ”

“(Daniel) My mom works at Marian so I’ve known of the school for a while. I started as an IT major, but switched to graphic design. I really like the small classes… it allows students to get to know their teachers. The teachers here really try to help. I also sense the passion here; students want to learn. There is camaraderie among the students here.”

Forest and Daniel, along with faculty support, founded the E-sports club at Marian and serve as co-presidents. Their philosophy is all about brining interested parties together, building a family among the Marian family – fostering a “melting pot” atmosphere. Their hope is to have the club be a recreational group, but maybe also compete at some point: recreational and competitive. The club currently has 27 members.

The E-Sports club has partnered with Buffalo Wild Wings. They’re also sponsoring a Nintendo Night (party-style games) on 9/20 A109 6-8pm.
