Carol Schlaefer is an academic advisor for nursing in the College of the Professions.

“I’m originally from Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Much of my life I lived in Stevens Point (Wisconsin), but I moved back to the area in 2005 to be closer to family. My husband, Jim, works at Society Insurance as a Workers Compensation Claims Manager.  We have been happily married for almost 16 years.  We have a son and two daughters.  My son, Danny, lives in New York and is an Assistant Pro Golfer in Bedford Hills, New York.  My daughter Matti is going to be a freshman at St. Mary’s Springs and loves the performing arts: theater, singing, dancing, and playing piano and flute.  My younger daughter Mahri is going to be a 7th grader at the Springs.  She loves many sports: soccer, volleyball, basketball, track & field, and cheerleading. We are animal lovers and own three cats: Gracie, Meep, and Purr (that’s what you get when you let your kids name your pets)!

I started at Marian in December of 2012 in the Registrar’s Office as the Degree and Academic Transcript Evaluator.  I then became the Advisor for Prenursing and Social Work.  I currently advise students in Prenursing and Nursing.

My advice to students is to ask for help when you need it, step outside of your comfort zone, talk to your instructors, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and get involved!  Hold yourself accountable in all that you do. Your college years will go by very fast.  Enjoy them, learn from them, and create lasting memories.”
