7.25.2018 – Faces of Marian: Andy Mammel
“I’m from a small town in southeast Michigan called Saline. My wife is from Fond du Lac. We have lived a lot of places across the Midwest, but we’re happy to have landed back here again.
I started working at Marian in June, 2011. I’ve had several roles on campus. I started as an Academic Advisor and Admissions Councilor in the RN-BSN/MSN program. Over the last seven years, I have had the pleasure of advising students in programs across our campus; traditional students, adult-online students, and Masters. The one commonality in my positions is that I have been educating students on technology. So, moving into IT, where I currently serve as the Director of IT Operations, turned out to be a great fit because I get to have a big impact with our technology for students, as well as faculty and staff.
I love the size of campus; it makes getting to know our students, faculty, and staff easy. I feel I am a part of a community here and that everything I do comes back to supporting our students.
My advice to students is take advantage of opportunities here, take some risks, get involved, and try to make an impact. Your opportunities here are huge, especially because we are a small university. You matter here; take advantage!”
