6.6.2018 – Faces of Marian: Grant Monroe
“I grew up in Chicago, Illinois. I attended high school at St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary Wisconsin…that is when I learned about Marian. Coach Boyle visited and eventually recruited me for basketball. I chose Marian, not only to play ball, but I also wanted a solid faith-based educational experience. I liked numbers, so I majored in accounting.
I really liked the small class sizes, knowing my advisor, and the ability to get involved in more than one co-curricular activity. One of my favorite things was Regatta. It was always a great time.
After I graduated, and I was looking for employment in the area, I eventually was offered a job at Marian as an admission counselor. In that role, I was able to share my experiences with individuals who were interested in attending Marian. It was a great fit.
After 20 years, I moved to my current role, Director of Alumni Relations. I feel this is a natural transition as I’ve recruited or went to school with so many of our alums.
My advice to students is step outside your comfort zone. There are so many opportunities at Marian. Take advantage of all the opportunities. You never know what amazing thing might happen.”
