Christian Wahl is a sophomore at Marian University majoring in forensic science, pursuing a double minor in biology and chemistry. Christian is the current Treasurer of the Science and Math Association, the Student Representative of the Forensic Science Association, and he is the President of the Student Association of Smiles and Happiness.

“The Student Association of Smiles and Happiness started last semester. I started it because I felt the need to spread happiness around campus. We do highway cleanup to spread happiness to the environment as well. Currently, we have around 15 members.

I grew up in the very small town of Postville, population 20. I then went to school in New Glarus for 3 years. I didn’t have the greatest time because I was bullied a lot. That motivated me and my family to move to Monticello. That definitely helped me become a person that I liked. I made more friends there.

I chose Marian because I wanted that small environment and that family feeling. Being at Marian, within the first couple of years has made me more talkative. I would never have gotten this far without the people I know here or Monticello.

People usually recognize me because I always wear a red sweatshirt. It’s an unexplained mystery that started around fifth grade. I usually wear something like this every day. Not the same one of course. Red is my favorite color. I’m still trying to figure it out myself.”
