Student Mitch WestbrookMitchell Westbrook is a junior, double majoring in business administration and sports/recreation management.

“I’m from Somonauk, Illinois. It is about an hour southwest of Chicago. I like to play video games, work out at the Y(MCA), hangout with friends, and go to the movies. I haven’t seen a really good movie in a while, but my all-time favorite is Tarzan!

I like the smaller class sizes at Marian and the attention professors can give us students. I had a similar situation in high school and I wanted to find a college that was the same. I like knowing most of the people in my classes. I came here to play soccer, but I wanted to focus on my studies. I like the friendliness of the Marian community. I like that I can carry on a conversation with everyone and anyone here. It’s easy to ask for help here.

I am a member of the Admission Sabre Call Team. I started this last semester. I call prospective students and their families hoping to get them to come to campus for a visit. I’m a three-time intermural champion – volleyball, basketball, and bowling.

My advice to other students is don’t be afraid to come out and join things and meet new people. Coming to college can be scary. If you don’t get out and get involved, it can be really hard to meet new people and find new friends.”
