Student Kayla MattaxKayla Mattox is a senior biology major (graduating in May!).

“I’m from Kenosha, Wisconsin. I enjoy hanging out with my family. There isn’t really anything in particular I like to do, but I’ll try anything. I do like going to little festivals and events around town so I can check things out. I like live bands. I like to read a variety of different genres, too.  I do plan to take the year after graduation to work and travel before going back to school.

What do I like about Marian? I like that I know most people around campus, including the students, faculty, and staff. This is cool because at other schools I don’t think it would be like this. It’s nice to know people on both academic and personal levels.

I am the vice president of the Pre-Health Professions club, a member of the science/math association, and event programmer for Marian’s Activities Committee (including big band).  I work at One-Stop and with auxiliary support services. I’ve also studied abroad in Ireland.

My advice to others is take school seriously, but not too seriously. Enjoy your time in college and don’t always be stressed out. Don’t let yourself be stuck in a lab all night. Instead, do something to enjoy your time before you have to go out into the real world.”
