4.18.2018 – Faces of Marian: Lawson MacDonald
“I’m from Saint Andrews West, Ontario, Canada. I’m pretty sports-orientated. I like to play soccer, tennis, and golf. I also enjoy going to the lake and being with my friends.
I was recruited to come to Marian to play hockey. That’s really how I heard about Marian. I ended up choosing to come here because it was a good place, very friendly. I like the class sizes and the smallness of it. I love how you can get to know your professors. Each professor knows you on a personal basis. In my experience, this is unheard of at a university.
I am on the men’s varsity hockey team, the men’s varsity tennis team, and the reserve men’s varsity soccer team. Hockey did really well this year. Tennis season started in March. With all I have going on, organization and time management are key. I and others need to make sure we make some free time to not always focus on sports and school. Sometimes you have to get away and focus on yourself to get your head straight.
My advice to incoming students is make sure you get involved on campus, whether it is athletics or clubs. Also make sure to get to know your professors. It has helped me and the professors are always looking for ways to help the students.”
