Student Sophia VacaSophia Vaca is a sophomore exercise and sports science major, with a minor in Spanish.

“I’m from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. I have three siblings. I am a twin. My twin sister goes to school in Madison. I have a Weimaraner dog name Aspen. He is four years old. Apsen is a great running partner. I like being outdoors and being active. I love to read, but it is hard to find time with my busy school schedule.

I really like the people at Marian. I’ve become close to some and I love having the opportunity to be involved in campus and community events.

I am a Resident Assistant (RA) for the townhouses. This is my first year doing this and I’m really enjoying it because it is fun getting to know the people (staff, faculty, and fellow RAs) living in the townhouses and working around campus. I play on the women’s soccer team in the position of midfield. This is my second year on the team. I really came to Marian to play soccer. Our team is a big family and everyone is super supportive of each other.

My advice to other students is get the full college experience by getting involved as much as you can. Don’t just go to class. Get out of your comfort zone and make the most of college. This time goes so fast.”
