student Kiara DeanKiara Dean, a sophomore from Madison, Wisconsin, is majoring in radiologic technology. She plans to attend med school once she completes her four years at Marian. She played cello for seven years and played piano for three years. Her favorite books are “1984” by George Orwell, “Nineteen” by Jodi Picoult, and “The Secret Life of Bees” by Sue Monk Kidd.

At Marian, Kiara is a member of Black Student Union, a peer leader for TRIO-SSS, and treasurer of both Campus Ministry and Student Association of Smiles and Happiness. She chose Marian because the small campus feels very welcoming. Her advice to students is, “Even when you feel like giving up, just push through because the end will be worth it. If you need help, don’t forget about the many resources that this campus has to offer; they are here to help you be successful.”
