Gracie Thies is a freshmen Sports and Recreation Management major, minoring in marketing.

“I’m from Belvidere, Illinois. I have one older sister. I enjoy watching Netflix. Some of my favorite shows are Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and The Office. I’m also an avid sports fan and my favorite team to watch is the Green Bay Packers.

I live on campus. My roommate even has her (comfort) dog on campus!

I like that there are a lot of clubs and organizations here that students can get involved with. I also like Marian because they have the major I want. When I was searching for a college, I really only found two schools who had what I wanted. The sports and recreation management program is what brought me here. I also like that it’s a small, intimate campus and I can actually get to know my professors and later get recommendations.

I am already involved on campus. I’m in the Business Club and I serve as the Webmaster and a Staff Writer for our student newspaper, The Sabre Voice. I hope to join more in the future

My advice to people looking to go to college is to definitely get to know your admission counselor. They are helpful. Once at Marian, there is a ton of stuff to do on campus and I would encourage people to go to every event possible in your freshmen year because that is how you are going to meet people and make your friends.”
