Rachel Lederer is a junior organizational communication major, minoring in both leadership and public relations.

“I’m from Ashippun (the unincorporated part), but I went to high school in Oconomowoc. I am the middle of three sisters. I have a 14 year old sister and a 25 year old sister. I also have a female rescue dog. She’s part husky and part Australian sheepdog. Her name is Charlie. I also play flute and took six years of German.

I’m part of the Outdoor Adventure Club. This year I am the co-advertising chair. I like to bike and hike. I’m the student representative for Campus Ministry. This year, I’m also working with Student Life as an events programmer. I’m a really big reader, especially Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

I like Marian, but it isn’t just the small classes, it is the people I have met here. I have learned the people who work here do it because they like working here, not because they get paid a lot. People here seem devoted to their jobs. Everyone here is interconnected and I like that. What good is making a lot of money if you are not happy with what you do?

My advice to others is cheaper is not always better. I promise you paying a little more is worth it. Whatever field you go into, it will take a while to pay off debit, but if you do what you love, that is what is important.”
