1.2.2019 – Faces of Marian: Amber Philby
Amber Philby is an aspiring educator who wishes to improve the lives of all her students. She is a sophomore majoring in English education from Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. On-campus, she is an active member of the Honors Program and TRIO, and she plans to perform in the spring play. She also has a three-year old daughter named Annabelle who loves reading and making up stories just like her mom. She is one of Amber’s motivations to continue attending school even when it is difficult.
Amber says that the more she learned about Marian, the more she fell in love with the university. She was especially drawn to the small class sizes because they allow for close relationships with faculty and other students. Her advice to students is “You own your choices. Take responsibility for your actions; all of them have consequences, so make good ones.”
