Nursing & Healthcare – Experiential Learning and Career Outcomes

The Marian University Nursing and Healthcare program clinical experiences start building your skills the moment you’re ready. We emphasize hands-on learning to prepare you for actual work situations and responsibilities through intensive hands-on experience.

  • As one of the first schools in Wisconsin to offer a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology, following sophomore year, you’ll spend approximately 40 hours each week for 22 months both in the classroom studying radiologic technology theory and at clinical agency sites in Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Waupun, applying that knowledge by working with real patients
  • The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program utilizes 630 hours of faculty-led clinical and high-fidelity simulation experiences, clinical practice in our nursing resource and simulation facility, patient care exposure in a variety of settings, and lab-enhanced learning guided by professional nurses
  • The Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program will allow you to gain valuable equipment and patient experience by training at one of our two affiliate clinical sites after two years

  • Students in the Marian University Bachelor of Science in Psychology program gain and apply knowledge through educationally driven field experiences, internships, and research that enhances their understanding and critical analysis of key psychological conceptsStudents receive Mental Health First Aid training, conduct research, present at Marian’s Academic Symposium, and regularly attend the Midwestern Psychological Association Conference in Chicago. 
  • With a proven curriculum that includes 450 hours of field internship experience, the Marian University Bachelor of Social Work program is unique in that it will provide you firsthand experience working with clients from your very first class. 
  • The 100% online Master of Science in Thanatology program is the nation’s oldest asynchronous online master’s program for thanatology, and is led by Dr. Korie Leigh, a certified Thanatologist and certified child life specialist. The Master of Science program has faculty representing both applied practice and scholarly application in the field of Thanatology. Our contemporary curriculum is fused with foundational theories and practices that provide the tools necessary to work in the field of Thanatology.
