The Game Design Minor is designed to provide an interdisciplinary approach to video and analog game development.  Emphasis is placed on understanding the fundamentals of design, playtesting, and user interface.  Students will also the development an understanding of the creation and use of narratives and graphics.  Those wishing to design video games will take courses in programming and music composition.    Students wishing to have a career in Game Design are encouraged to also complete a major in English, Management Information Systems, Graphic Design, or Music.

Required Courses

IDS 1XX – Introduction to Game Design (3 cr.)
ENG 1XX – Narrative Creation and Exploration
ART XXX – 6 credits of Electives in Drawing, Painting, or Graphic Arts
IDS 4XX – Play-Testing and User Interface (1.5 cr.)
IDS 4XX – Game Design Capstone (1.5 cr.)

Additional requirements:

6 Credits from the following areas:  Art; English; Culture, Media, Gender Studies; Information Technology, or Music.
