Marian is dedicated to the continued professional and personal growth of adult learners. As such, our Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is offered as an online accelerated adult undergraduate program that incorporates professional education with a rich liberal arts foundation.

This bachelor of science degree completion program is designed for certified Diagnostic Medical Sonographers who wish to earn a baccalaureate degree. Students are credited with 60 credits toward their degree for having successfully completed a two-year Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program and earned their ARDMS certification. Coursework includes the liberal arts courses required to complete the baccalaureate degree and a choice among minors. Students may also opt to earn a business administration double major. Liberal Arts Core, 30 credits:

Diagnostic Medical Sonography Core, 60 credits:

Two-year diagnostic medical sonography program from an accredited school of diagnostic medical sonography (transferred as DMS 380, 390, 395, 400, 410, and 415).

Selected Minor, 15-24 credits:

Choose one of the following minors
Business Administration Minor – Online
History Minor – Online
Management Minor – Online
Marketing Minor – Online
Healthcare Administration Minor – Online

Marian’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography completion program is designed for students who have successfully completed a DMS program through an accredited school or hospital and earned certification through ARDMS.

This program provides students with a foundation in the liberal arts, building on their experiences to develop strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will also choose a minor from the following options: Business Administration, History, Management, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Psychology.

Marian University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

To be accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, you must:

  • Possess an ARDMS credential (with education from an accredited school or hospital program)
  • Have a 2.0 GPA or higher
