An introduction to cultural diversity and historical legacies of peoples of Hispanic America. Through the study of texts from multiple genres, the course addresses the evolution of social structures, the construction of gender, the role of indigenous peoples, economics, etc. Historical themes include pre-Colombian civilizations, exploration, conquest, colonialism, independence, and socio-economic revolutions.
