Exploration of the various kinds of literature and informational text based on The Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for ELA and the National Standards for ELA available to children, adolescents, and
teachers of reading and writing. Literature and informational instructional strategies to guide and assess children at various stages of development appropriate to their interests, needs, and individual abilities are
presented. Methods for integrating children’s literature and informational text into ongoing reading and writing instruction are taught.
