BUS 348 Principles of Data Management
Examines the functions and operations required to manage information for business decisions. Focuses on the use of various information technologies and tools that support transaction processing, decision-making, and strategic planning. The diverse information needs of different organizations are used as examples of practical applications of this technology. Introduces the practical concepts of data structures; indexed and direct file organizations; data models, including hierarchical, network and relational; storage devices, data administration and analysis; design and implementation. Students use database software in creating, modifying, retrieving an reporting from databases.
